Whispr is a messaging app that runs in your browser and can be installed on your phone’s home screen. You create your identity on your own device, without providing a phone number or email address.

Whispr can hold encrypted messages for delivery when your contact next opens and unlocks the app. Ordinary undelivered messages expire after seven days, so it is best to check in regularly.
Messages need an internet connection to reach your contact. Delivery is not guaranteed, and Whispr should not be relied on for emergencies.
Getting started
- Open Whispr and choose a name and a strong passphrase.
- Download your encrypted recovery file and store it safely.
- Add someone you know using their pairing QR code or link.
On iPhone, open Whispr in Safari and choose Share → Add to Home Screen. On Android, use your browser’s Install app or Add to Home screen option. Menu names can vary.
